Can Purchasing A Turbo Actuator Be A Cheaper Option For You?

Posted by Jake Goldas on

When you are driving and the check engine light turns on displaying that your turbo is not working, this can bring a lot of frustration. Buying a whole turbocharger is not a cheap investment. If one was to learn more about the different parts of the whole turbo charger you can end up saving a lot of time, money, and frustration.

When you first see signs that something is wrong with your turbo charger, the first thing you should do is check the turbo actuator. The turbo actuator is the rectangular shaped part attached to the main mechanics of the turbocharger. All though is does happen that the whole turbo charger can be broken ( There is oil inside or something is stuck in the turbine mechanism ) from our experience, most of the time this is not the case. When you take the turbo actuator out and open it up, often you will see that prongs that normally connect are broken or worn down. What do you do when you see this?

If you go to a dealership, they will tell you that either way you have to buy a whole new turbo charger because they do not make just the actuator. This can cost up to $3000 dollars with labor. Luckily for you, we sell just turbo actuators for all sprinters and many other diesel cars. We buy all the original Hella Garrett parts from the manufacturer to put turbo actuators together. Our engineer is able to program them to fit the specific model of your vehicle. It is easy to install yourself, or you can ask a mechanic to do it for you. By changing just the turbo actuator, you will save thousands of dollars and be back on the road fast.

In order to make sure you are getting the right actuator, you want to look at the side of your old unit. You will see a G number. You can use this number to find the right actuator. If you are still unsure, send us your turbocharger number or VIN and we can confirm for you.
